Mourinho : " It is impossible to improve on our numbers"

Jose Mourinho was accompanied by his staff in the press conference ahead of the clash with Mallorca.

"We're all here today because we all work on the team. There are others who aren't here today that have also been part of a coaching staff that has given its all to help the players achieve success. We've all won and lost together. I said we would all either laugh or cry together in the end and we've eventually laughed because things went our way."

"I think we've had a very good season. We've grown as a team and as a group of people. We want to do better and improve. We've established difficult records and won the most important title. We've also been in the Champions League semifinals a second straight year, which means we're strong there also. We also had great respect for the Copa del Rey. We fought for the title. It's been a very good season and I believe it is impossible to improve on our numbers. We want to win the league title again next season, but we know it will be very difficult to earn these numbers again."

"I would give the team as a whole a nine out of ten, but I would award some players a ten. I think it will be very difficult to improve on our performance level next year. Even though there are some who say there is only one way of playing football, I believe there are many ways, and I think no one plays ours like we do. We will add qualities to make the team stronger and we will aslo work on psychology. It isn't easy to do better in the Champions League, but it's possible, so we'll try. We don't want or need a new squad. Two players will suffice to make the team stronger."

"We want to give a serious performance against Mallorca and enjoy ourselves. It would be great to add taking 100 points to our list of records this year, but we just want the fans to have fun."

"There'll be nothing to do if someone pays Higuain's rescission clause. Everyone knows I'd like him to stay, but that's what clauses are for. Gonzalo is one of the best centre forwards in the world."

"I believe all my men have worked towards winning the title and Kaka is one of them. He's been decisive in some games and he's also given less positive performances, but he's had a great season overall. My opinion regarding Carvalho is that he is too good not to be a starter. He's won the league title in Portugal, England and Spain with me and we'll decide what's best for him."

Mourinho : Higuain is not leaving anywhere

The Argentina international has continually been linked with a move away from the Liga champions, and Paris Saint-Germain star Javier Pastore revealed earlier this weekend that Higuain has been in touch with him over a potential move.

Nevertheless, Mourinho has stressed that the 24-year-old is not for sale at any price.

"Higuain is staying here. He will stay at Madrid because I don't want him to go. He has an excellent contract here that runs for many more years," Mourinho stated to ABC.

"And Madrid have no intention to sell either. Even if clubs offer 40, 50 or €60 million, we will not sell him. My two strikers for next season will be [Karim] Benzema and Higuain."

Higuain has netted 22 goals in 34 Primera Division appearances this season.

Real Madrid's season is being truly spectacular. The team tops the league table and will play the Champions League semifinals, have tallying an impressive 150 goals overall this campaign.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the team's top scorer this year with 49 strikes, only four shy of last season's 53. He is also a magnificent assist-man and Higuain and Benzema benefit most from his passing talents. The French striker has scored 28 goals this season and Higuain reached the centenary as a Madridista last weekend against Osasuna, with a total tally of 24 strikes this season.

Players believe in the comeback victory

The squad believes the team can turn the aggregate score around at Camp Nou: "Real Madrid never give up a fight"

Real Madrid have always stood out for their hard work, drive and pursuit of victory to their very last breath. The club's values go hand in hand with unbelievable comebacks and turnarounds accomplished in Europe by the team throughout its history. Jose Mourinho's side is ready to pick up from where its predecessors left off and will travel to Barcelona sure of its chances to turn things around in the Champions League semifinals. The squad and all Madridistas dream of reaching the 28 May final at Wembley.

Iker Casillas
"The names of the two teams that will play the final haven't been inscribed yet. You never know what may happen. We will play in Barcelona knowing a final is set to take place in a month and that any of the four teams still in the championship may be in it."

Sergio Ramos
"We are in a complicated spot in this tie, but we'll have to go for it at Camp Nou. We're hopeful. We will try to do a good job and look for a victory."

Higuain

"We have a great chance in the Champions League and we will fight to the death. What matters is that we stick together to reach the final we are all so excited about. We're good enough to win the tie, so we will try our best. We must be proud and humble. The fact that Barça defeated us in Madrid means we can also defeat them in Barcelona."

Kaka
"We expect to play a great game. We have faith. Real Madrid can never give up a fight."

 Jorge Valdano, Director General
"Madridismo always believes in comebacks. If there was just one team that had the habit of being heroic, it would be Real Madrid. Nothing should deprive us of feeling hope and excitement for Tuesday's match."

Higuain:"There is no better way to return home than with a lot of goals"

Higuain: "No one was selfish; we played as a team"

Gonzalo Higuain scored his first hat-trick since returning from injury and the striker could not have been more pleased with his performace.

"I gained a lot of confidence today. I am very happy; a little tired, but that's normal. There is no better way to return home than with a lot of goals. The hard work and wait were worth it. Now it's time to have fun because helping the team and accomplishing our goals are that count."

"No one was selfish. We played as a team. Now it is time to rest ahead of Wednesday's match, but today we proved that we are in great shape heading into the final stage of the season."

"Mourinho has a variety of possibilities with the players he has to choose from, and everyone is in good form."

Higuain:"Barcelona are the best" !!!!!!!!!!!

Gonzalo Higuain may be on a collision course with team-mates after declaring that rivals Barcelona are the best side in the world.

With Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Sergio Ramos, Xabi Alonso and Karim Benzema to name a few in Madrid's ranks, the Argentine still believes the Catalan outfit are out in front.

He has also heaped praise on countryman Lionel Messi, suggesting he is the world's best talent.

He said: "People like who they like, but for me Messi is the best in the world. He has won the Ballon d'Or and the FIFA World Player awards and at the moment is the world's best.

"Although Madrid are the best team in history, currently Barcelona is the best team in the world. It is hard for me to say that."

Meanwhile, Real midfielder Lassana Diarra is not sure if Barcelona have any problems despite their slight dip in form.

The Catalan giants fell to a first defeat of the season at Atletico Madrid recently and looked shaky in Tuesday's 1-1 Champions League last 16 draw at Stuttgart.

With Manuel Pellegrini's Real facing Tenerife on Saturday, they have the opportunity to move above them in the table and apply further pressure on Pep Guardiola's side ahead of their game with Malaga.

Despite their first major setback of the campaign, the former Arsenal and Portsmouth man can't see any real concern within the Barca ranks.

Diarra said: "I've seen Barcelona's last few matches and I don't think they have a problem. If you asked me if they are weaker than last season, maybe yes, maybe no.

"A team cannot be at 100 per-cent all the time. But we have to take advantage of the small slips they might have."

Elsewhere, Sevilla coach Manolo Jimenez has admitted he has mixed feelings following his side's Champions League last 16 draw against CSKA Moscow on Wednesday evening.

The Spanish outfit opened the scoring through Alvaro Negredo only for Mark Gonzalez to lash home a stunning equaliser.

Although his team are favourites to progress ahead of the second leg at their Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan home, Sanchez believed his team would grab the advantage in Russia.

He said: "Although the result is good, we cannot avoid going away with a bitter-sweet taste in the mouth.

"It's not a negative result, as scoring away from home is always positive.

"I was convinced that the game was going to be ours, it's not completely gone the way I wanted and I'm sure that CSKA, who are a great team, will come and give it everything at our ground."

Higuain aims to score more goals

Gonzalo Higuain has been in good scoring form this season, but the Argentine said the best is yet to come.

Despite being on a roster that includes summer super signings Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Karim Benzema,Higuain is currently Real’s top goal scorer in La Lagi with 10 strikes, and the speedy attacker who is only two goals behind leader David Villa of Valencia, is demanding from himself whenever he steps on the pitch.

“I hope every game I play is the best in my career at that moment, but I believe my best performances have yet to come. I don’t care about whom we face, Higuain told Uefa.com

“I just want Real Madrid to play well.”

Meanwhile, recent rumours have suggested that the forward could be heading to Arsenal in a swap for Cesc Fabregas, but Higuain reveals that he would love to end his career with the Spanish giants.

“It would be beautiful to end my career on this team,” he said. “Real Madrid and its city are my second home. It would be fantastic.

“I would like Madridistas to remember me as a humble and hard working person. Peopleremember you better when you win titles and they recall how you used to play. I would like to be remembered as being a great person.”

Higuain also thinks the Real side is still “growing as a team this season.”
